The voice-pe resource

Wondering how to get started with Meaningful PE? Using democratic pedagogies can help promote more meaningful experiences in physical education. Student voice pedagogies epitomise democracy in action in physical education. Using student voice strategies in physical education lessons can help amplify children’s voices through making choices, sharing their perspectives, and directing and taking responsibility for their learning. These approaches give children more ownership of their learning, makes them more invested in participation, and helps better match their preferences with what happens in physical education. By listening and responding to children’s voices more meaningful physical education experiences are possible. You can learn more about the Voice-PE project at a recent blog post here. In addition, you can access this resource that was developed in collaboration with primary teachers who systematically integrated student voice strategies in their teaching of Physical Education. The project was a collaboration with the Irish Primary Physical Education Association and was funded by an Irish Research Council New Foundations Grant 2021-22.
